THE STAGE – David Morrissey, Jenna Coleman and Denise Gough are to star in the first play in a new series of live-streamed readings.

They will feature alongside Ed Stoppard and Maggie Service in a reading of Tom Stoppard’s A Separate Peace, which was originally written for TV in 1966.

It forms part of The Remote Read, a series of live play readings that will be streamed through Zoom organised by online theatre network CurtainCall.

A Separate Peace, which is directed by Sam Yates, will be live streamed at 7pm on May 2.

Tickets cost between £7.50 and £20 – with households of several people encouraged to pay more – and the money raised will go towards supporting theatre technicians and creatives out of work due to Covid-19, as well as the Felix Project food charity.

Yates said: “Tom Stoppard’s one-act play is a vibrant and moving exploration of connectedness and care. It is exciting to explore the possibilities of a new and untested form – presenting a play online – with a stellar cast, designer, lighting designer, sound designer and stage manager. It comes at a time when artists are exploring how we can adapt our practices and connect with audiences.”

A Separate Peace has lighting design by Nat Green, sound by Sam Glossop, costume by Amelia Sierevogel and tech by Tim Kashani. The production manager for the show is Kate West and the stage manager Georgia Bird.

The production team have adapted their roles to work digitally.

Partners for The Remote Read project include Platform Presents and Apples and Oranges Arts.
