From Doctor Who BBC Blog

Here’s the second of our exclusive shots of Matt Smith and Jenna-Louise Coleman.

The photos were taken on location at Margam Country Park, the vast, verdant park in South Wales that is home to Margam Castle and the remains of Margam Abbey.

You can also see our first photo of Matt Smith and Jenna-Louise Coleman and a third one will appear on this site on Wednesday.

The image has been added to the gallery! Let’s hope they will release the wallpaper version soon :)

From the Doctor Who BBC Blog:

We’ve got three new photographs of Matt Smith and Jenna-Louise Coleman, all taken whilst filming the latest series of Doctor Who.

We caught up with Matt Smith who told us, ‘It [filming on the new series] is going well. Jenna brings a really different energy to the show – one which I think is very interesting.’

Shooting is well-underway for the Doctor’s latest adventures and the second read-through featuring Jenna-Louise Coleman as the new companion took place earlier this week at the BBC’s Roath Lock Studios.

We’ll be bringing you more news and photographs next week!

We added the image in the gallery! They look amazing!

Those in the know on the world of Doctor Who have named the character played by Jenna-Louise Coleman…as Clara.

The BBC has not made an official announcement, but several fans who’ve been snooping around Margam Country Park, near Port Talbot in Wales – where filming is currently taking place – are sure they’ve overheard JLC being addressed as Clara in scenes.

Twitter was set alight last night when Ryan Farrell (one of the aforementioned fans) took a break from tweeting pics from the set to drop this bombshell:

“Jenna Louise is CLARA”

Similar claims have filtered through the Doctor Who message boards and forums this morning.

Could it be true?

Well, there is a little supporting evidence. Former companion to the Doctor Elisabeth Sladen, who sadly died last year, had a middle name. And yes, it was Clara. Could Jenna-Louise’s character name be an homage to the Doctor Who and Sarah Jane Adventures actress?

It would seem a fitting tribute, but it must be said that Doctor Who has a long history of using codenames to keep the fans guessing – so could we just be falling for another of their tricks?

For now, we’ll just have to wait and see…

The new series of Doctor Who will begin on BBC1 this autumn.

Doctor Who showrunner Steven Moffat reckons that Jenna-Louise Coleman arrival as the new companion on Doctor Who will have a major impact on the show.

Speaking on Radio 5 to Richard Bacon, he said, “It’s just very exciting. When a new companion comes in it sort of reboots the show a little bit, it makes you look at the Doctor differently, it makes the show feel different, that’s already happening. It’s literally a new beginning, you’re back to chapter one, in a way it’s always a story of someone getting to know the Doctor, and now it’s Jenna’s character. There’s a lot of ways (her character) will be different, but I’m not telling you what they are! Jenna is just wonderful and spiky and salty and clever: again – just as Doctor Who always does – it becomes a different show, and I’m thrilled with her, everyone’s going to be.” [via Doctor Who News]

Coleman has actually started work on her first episode, but it’s not the one she’ll first appear in on screen. Instead she been filming one of the episode due to air in 2013, after the Christmas special in which she’ll make her debut (Moffat’s still writing that, apparently). Locations filmed thus far have included the Manor House at Plas Llanmihangel, Margam Country Park and Gethin Woodland Park. [also via Doctor Who News]
